Our actions for the environment

  • For catering, maximum sourcing of raw materials from producers close to the hotel in order to promote the local economy and reduce the carbon footprint
  • Recycling of vegetable waste using a composting facility located at the back of the hotel
  • Recycling and recovery of cardboard, plastic and aluminium bottles
  • Water bottles offered in the room are made of returnable glass. The courtesy water bottles offered on departure are rPET, made from 100% recycled plastic. Of course, the water is drawn from Alsace (Source Liese).
  • Since 2014, heat pumps have been installed for the heating of the entire establishment
  • Since 2014, creation of our own water treatment plant (located under the hotel car park) without chemicals, based on bacteria, for the treatment of the hotel and spa wastewater, before discharge into the public network
  • Spa water de-chlorination basin using the natural action of the sun (no chemicals)
  • During the renovations in 2017 and throughout the new works, switch to LED lighting, which uses very little energy, in the restaurant rooms, corridors, reception, bathrooms, etc.
  • Abandonment of individual soaps in the bathrooms in favour of ecolabel certified organic soap dispensers
  • Since 2017, complete abandonment of pesticides in the maintenance of outdoor areas. Only white vinegar is used for weeding
  • Since 2018, deployment of charging stations for electric vehicles in customer car parks (currently 11 x 11 kW charging stations available free of charge)
  • In 2020, replacement of the hotel's diesel-powered courtesy vehicle with a hybrid electric/unleaded petrol vehicle
  • Since 2020, single-use gift boxes made of cardboard have been replaced by reusable felt pockets for a second life as cases for tablets or various papers
  • The vast majority of paper supplies used by the hotel on a daily basis (letterhead, envelopes, hotel brochures, leaflets, etc.) bear the PEFC label, which guarantees sustainable forest management
  • As of 2019, paper-based communication media will be abandoned as soon as possible in favour of digital dematerialisation thanks to the hotel's mobile application.
  • Since 2017, the use of tablecloths in the hotel's restaurants has been phased out in favour of raw materials such as wood for tables and pedestal tables.
  • Since 2022, the use of weekly bouquets of fresh flowers on restaurant tables has been completely discontinued in favour of seasonal bouquets of dried flowers, which return periodically, as do all the typical decorations for Christmas, Easter and Valentine's Day.
  • Since 2022, during the festive season, in order to preserve the spirit of Christmas as well as our natural and energy resources, we have chosen fresh, locally-grown and sustainable trees for our outdoor decorations. The electric garlands are the latest generation micro-led models, consuming just 0.006 Kwh. Inside, we are no longer using Only reusable wooden trees are used, with no electric lights.
